Bicycle Safety: The Importance of Wearing a Safety Helmet

The main goal of learning Bicycle Safety at a young age is it enforce the importance of being safe when you go out to play. Because parents and guardians are not always around, it is important for you to learn how to take care of yourself and protect your body. Wearing a helmet is not meant to be a fashion statement, it is a means that in the case of an accident, your brain is protected so you are able to play again another day. At the end of this lesson, you will know the importance of wearing a safety helmet and the understand why it is an essential accessory to have when riding your bike, skateboard or roller skates. The goal of this lesson is to learn the essential tools and accessories needed to wear in order to safely ride your bicycle, learn the rules of the road, as well as proper hand signals required when making a turn. The class will be split up into 3 groups which will teach to the rest of the class these aforementioned topics. Full understanding of the topic is essential because your comprehension is key to helping the other students understand the various concepts. This will all be displayed on a poster board at the end of the week.
