Marketing is fundamental to business. A large part of the marketing process is creating and implementing a marketing plan, where you think strategically and carefully about the “big picture”, and where your business and its products and services fit within it. A marketing plan helps to analyse the marketing environment and stay one-step ahead of your competitors. Elements typically found in the macro-environment of a business are – political, economic, social, technical, environmental and legal (PESTEL), alter the way companies operate (Masterson et al. 2017).  In order to remain competitive, organisations must meet the varying needs and wants of customers by constantly changing and adjusting their customer approach. It is essential that organisations develop new innovative products and services by altering their marketing plans. Organisations must engage in marketing planning and must ask questions of themselves such as the following:

  • What factors must be considered when developing a new product or service?
  • How will our business decide on what pricing strategy to use for our new product and service?
  • How will our business decide on what marketing communications mix to use when launching a new product or service? (Masterson et al. 2017).

Marketing planning presents an extensive analysis of all the main factors included in a marketing plan and their amalgamation into an organisation. This is the basis for continued success, in highly competitive marketplaces. With all of the above in mind, you are required to:

    • Explain a new fresh or frozen food product (suitable for diabetics) for the Irish market.
    • Devise a marketing plan for this new food product
