Creating a Business Plan Presentation

Teacher Page

This is an activity that will help students learn how to create a business plan. Students will also learn how to use various technological tools such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Audacity, Internet Research, YouTube Videos, Jing, Online Forums, and Interactive Timelines.  I suggest that if you present this lesson to your class you allow students plenty of time to work on their ideas. Be sure to explain exactly what you expect from the presentation. When I completed this project with fifth graders I had so many that truly ran with the idea but they did not come up with a business that would "revolutionize" the 21st century although they did come up with a wonderful idea and presentation. If I taught this lesson again I would be sure to explain how the products and businesses of the Industrial Revolution actually revolutionized the world at that time in our history. I was hoping for an idea such as that of Bessemer's steal making process but a lot of students just took products that already exist and tweaked them. Although in this day and age I guess it could be a bit difficult to come up with the next iPhone or light bulb.
