Remembering: What makes you, you?

You will be able to work amongst your peers to remember different aspects, events, and significant people in your life.  After the short recorded interview with your partner, you will then reflect on one of the questions answered.  Elaborate as much as possible and remember as many details as you can.

Understanding: College Vocabulary
Going to college and learning about college is exciting, but can also be very confusing.  Define the given vocabulary terms to help you with your future search.

Applying: The Facts
Explore the websites of all three of the Rutgers campuses. Apply the definitions from the previous step to help assist you in understanding what each different campus has to offer.  Once finished answering questions 1a-11c, create a pro/con list on one of the three provided options.  Incorporate at least of your three college vocabulary terms.

Analyzing: The Facts, Life outside of class,& Majors
Once finished analyzing the pro/cons of the size of either the size of the school, size of the classroom, or distance from home, move on to learn about life outside of the classroom.  Find three quick facts for each campus that show aspects of their campus life. This may include Greek life, sports, clubs, etc.  Next, choose one of these facts and reflect on how this organization, event, or group, will be able be beneficial to your own personal growth.  After completing this reflection, use the BigFuture website to explore possible majors.  Analyze your personality, work habits, and personal goals to find out what you may want to major in.

Evaluating: Majors
Using the information you found from each campuses' website, write another reflection on what Rutgers will be able to teach you.  Use the programs, courses, or internships to evaluate which campus is the best fit and judge how it will be beneficial.  Next, meet with the partner from your first self-reflection interview and discuss how your interests relate to your major choice.  Record your results.

Creating: Apply
The best way to know if a school is the right fit for you is to go on a visit. Schedule a campus tour for one campus.  Construct 8-10 questions you will be able to ask your tour guide.  Please include at least five college vocabulary words.  Lastly, use the information you gained from exploring the websites, interviewing your partners, your pro/con list, and your self-reflections to develop the first draft for your Rutgers personal statement.  The questions asked in the previous steps were all geared towards the personal statement and breaking the essay down.  Be descriptive and concise and use the information to develop the essay.
