INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY

View the visuals in (attachment one) answer the questions in the TASK section and email your response to your teacher.


Week 1


STUDENT GROUP ACTIVITY

1. Firstly students will need to read the following:


* Task assessment criteria (in evaluation section)
* Tips and requirements for working in groups (in attachment 2)
* Geographical research and report writing process record (in attachment 2)


2. You will be assigned an ACTION RESEARCH group as outlined in the TASK.


3. Each student will need to contribute to researching and answering the group key focus questions.

4. As part of your research process, you should use the resource list below as well as read, listen and watch the News Media in attachment 3.


5. Once your action group research is complete, individuals will then form a new JIGSAW group. (Note: Each member of the Jigsaw group will have come from a different Action Research group and will have gathered specific information in regards to Cyclone Larry).


6. Each jigsaw group will share the information they have discovered.


7. At the end of Week 1 each student will then choose from one of the four Key focus questions and develop a report for assessment. (1000 words)


Your research report will integrate the use of maps, diagrams, statistics and referencing, adherring to geographic conventions.

 

Week 2-4

8. Research, record information for report and write draft. (have draft checked by teacher)

9. Submit research report. Each student will need to submit the following with their assessment piece.

- Research report
- Geographical research report writing process record
