Responding to Natural Hazards - Cyclone Larry

This task has been set up to support students in an action research process. It is structured to help students in a learning journey to complete a Research Report Assessment piece. 

 


Background - Severe Tropical Cyclone Larry was the first to cross near a populated section of the east coast of Queensland since Rona in 1999, and the effects of the winds on buildings were devastating. Townships affected by the northern and southern portions of the eyewall of the cyclone received severe damage.

 

Students will become active investigators and complete the following activities;

1. View visual Cyclone Tracy photographs and email response to teacher.

2. Complete cyclone process research activity.

3. Participate in Action Group Research of Cyclone Larry - Website links, News Media task and Geography process booklet provided to enhance learning.

4. Complete Cyclone Larry Report on one of the Group Research Focus questions.

5. Complete Learning Journey online survey.
