What's for Lunch?

Does this look like a favorite lunch for you and a friend?   What's is the nutritional content of the food in the picture above?  How much would this cost in the lunch room?  How much would this cost at Five Guys?  How much would it cost to prepare yourself?

Your group has been appointed to serve on a panel to evaluate our school lunches.  You will need to explore all facets of meal planning to complete your task.  Budgeting, nutrition information, handling procedures, as well as student food preferences should be considered.  Remember, the nutrition content does not matter if students do like well enough to buy it or find the cost too high.

What foods currently served in our cafeteria should continue to be served based on your research?  Should we add some new offerings?

  • Standard 6.0 Explore career opportunities and preparation requirements for careers in the nutrition and food industries.
  • Standard 7.0 Apply consumer practices in the selection of food to meet nutritional needs and equipment used in food preparation.
