Careers in the Music Field
Process
First, select a career related to music. I have provided links below for you to visit and get ideas!
Here are some YouTube videos that feature music careers you may not have considered!
Here are some web pages with big lists of music careers. Read through and see all of the possibilities! Try to narrow it down to one to focus on!
Second, research the career you’ve chosen utilizing magazine articles, books, or the Internet. Be careful about the websites you use as sources! If you know someone who is working in the career you chose, ask him or her questions!
Use this website to help you determine if the website you’ve chosen is a quality one!
Third, create a PowerPointPresentation sharing your findings. Address the following criteria:
1. What is the career you have chosen?
2. Why did you choose this career?
3. What are the everyday responsibilities ofsomeone in this career?
4. Address the education required to be successful in this career. What level of education is required? What kinds of degrees? What are some schools that offer these types of degrees?
5. What is a typical salary range for this career?
Make sure to properly credit the sources you referenced on the last slide of your presentation in MLA format.
Here is a website to help you out with MLA formatting. If you do not use proper formatting, you will not earn the maximum points possible!
Next, create a help-wanted advertisement for someone in this field. Make sure to include education desired, everyday responsibilities, job title, etc. You’ll want to make the advertisement sound exciting enough for someone to want to apply, while still using professional language! Post this help-wanted ad to our class Wiki at
Once you get to this website, there will be directions to guide you through posting your ad.
Finally, read through at least three of your classmate’s help-wanted ads to learn about the career they chose. Compare and contrast their career with your own, and share your findings in a comment.
