Spain has a total of 50 provinces that are found in the 17 autonomous (independent) regions. Two regions are the two island groups.
Each autonomous region has a geographic situation, a distinctive climate and natural environment. As you explore each one you'll begin to discover that they all have their own different way of life, traditional customs, cultural assets and food. Some regions also have their own official language besides Castillian, the official language of Spain.
