Who Are We?

The realization of self identity helps to see where we all fit in within a group.  I am a father, an Airman, a husband, a teacher and a student.  I come from a heritage that has pride in being an American without ties to originating countries even though my maternal Grandfather's parents both came directly from Ireland and my paternal Grandmother's parents both came from South Africa.  I was raised to appreciate all cultures and to have an open understanding of where I fit in within groups.  You are expected to reflect on what makes you, you.  How do you refer to yourself in a multicultural classroom?  Are you white, black, American, African-American, Hispanic, Asian and what about that characteristic defines you?  You are expected to analyze who you are and what "who you are" characteristics can contribute to a classroom
