Aims and Objectives: Students should be aware of the structure and function of the digestive system and how various nutrients are assimilated in the body.
Specific Objectives: Students should be able to:
Identify the various organs/parts of the digestive system and their structures.
Describe the process of digestion and absorption of food in the alimentary canal.
Describe the structure and function of the villus
Identify the products of digestion and the function of the various enzymes.
Identify the various stages of digestion as: Ingestion, Digestion, Absorption, Assimilation and Egestion.
