The Human Digestive System

Welcome, 

As you prepare for this journey into the digestive system, prior to your launch, you will be briefed on the route that will be taken, the various sites/points of interest and the processes that take place there!  We promise that this will be an unforgettable journey from ingestion to egestion, or as you would say, "...from start to finish."  When you would have come to the end of your trip, a certified knowledge and competence in the following areas will be guaranteed: 

1.  Identifying the various structures of the digestive system and relating them to their functions;

2.   Describing the process of digestion and absorption of food in the alimentary canal; highlighting the structure and function of the villi. 

3.  Describing what happens to the end-products of digestion after their absorption (the process of assimilation)

4.  Describing the process of egestion and distinguishing between egestion and excretion.
