I would like to thank you in advance for choosing to work on the particular webquest. It will offer learners an outlook on one of the most important persons in the British history. As learners of the English language and culture, young students need to have an awareness of the well-known queen that played an important part in the history of Britain. Learners will be interested to learn about the specific individual as they constantly come across information about her life and years of reign.  

Standards

The curriculum standards the particular webquest is covering are History and English culture. Therefore, it could be used in the History subject or even better in the English subject. It concerns learners of grades 9-12 (a high amount of help could be offered by their teacher though). It would also be suitable for older learners too.

This webquest involves developing critical thinking skills. All tasks and information in order to fulfill them are provided through it, however learners need to use their critical thinking skills in order to evaluate the appropriateness of the information offered for the completion of the tasks.
In addition, knowledge of real world skills such as understanding human relationships or skills related to their academic skills (understanding symbolisms in paintings) are also practised.

Throughout the last parts of the webquest, learners are also required to practise cooperation skills in order work into groups, collectively and offer each other help in order to complete the tasks. This reinforces the idea of real-life skills even further as working cooperatively into small groups is a skill they need to be acquainted with in their real life.

Moreover, they can use the information collected creatively and critically in order to make a presentation to be used in a cultural awareness school week. This adds to the reinforcement of their creativity skills and development of critical skills.

Credits

There is no especial requirement in order to complete the particular webquest. You just need to have access to the you tube website to view any suggested videos for further information on the appointed topic. In addition, a Microsoft Word document is needed to open the cited sources (Worksheets).

Other

The group activities can also be adapted and tasks can also be worked on individually if you wish to do so. However, in order to accomplish the aim of cooperative work, it is better to avoid doing so. Moreover, you can encourage learners to make their own research even more by viewing the suggested videos or trying to find their own information. It has to be noted that the videos suggested do not contain any information that is necessary for the completion of the tasks. Their viewing is optional.

This WebQuest takes about 2-3 teaching hours to complete.
