Teacher Page

This is a great web quest for 8th or 9th grade English Language Arts students.  This would be a good activity to use at the beginning of the year.  The parts of speech are the basis of grammar.  If the students have a strong grasp of this concept right from the start, the other grammar skills will come easy to them.  This activity is also great to use at the beginning of the school year because you can judge how well students work together and also their creativity level.  They are also able to try new technology.

This web quest will take approximately two 50 minute class periods.  This activity would work best with mobile labs or in the school computer lab.

Outcomes:
-Learners will recognize the eight parts of speech.
-Learner will creatively show their understanding of a grammar concept through making a Prezi and a Mad Lib.

Thinking Encouraged:
- Teamwork
- Compromise
- Inference- making
- Creative Production
