Physiographic Divisions of India
Tasks
Let's learn together! Form six groups among yourselves and explore the characteristic features of each of the following physiographic divisions of India. Each of you will research on these divisions and teach the rest of your classmates as a group.
Pick the topic for your group from the list below:
Groups | Topics |
Group 1 | The Himalayan Mountains |
Group 2 | The Northern Plains |
Group 3 | The Peninsular Plateau |
Group 4 | The Indian Desert |
Group 5 | The Coastal Plains |
Group 6 | The Islands |
After selecting your group members and noting down your assigned topics, proceed to the process section. Watch the informative videos and read the articles relating to the topic assigned in detail. From the resources provided, find the different aspects of the physiographic division assigned to your group. It has to include:
- Location in terms of states
- Area of extension in map
- Relief features
- Soil types/ compositions
- Major river systems and drainage patterns
- Further divisions, if any.
- Climatic conditions
- Any other unique features
Note down these important features to be explored. You have to read and look for these specific features in the articles and videos. Information relating to each of these criteria of your topic has to be studied.
Based on the collected information, each group has to prepare a power point presentation on each of the Indian physiographic divisions. Thereafter, all the members have to present it, as a group, and teach in the class. For criteria of assessment, check out the rubrics given in the evaluation section. Additionally, all group members have to go through the attachment provided in the conclusion page.
Let's start exploring.
