Atomic Bomb Debate

Tasks

Tasks

1. Divide into two groups:

Group A: For using atomic bombs

Group B: Against using atomic bombs

2. Each group must have:

Opening Speaker- States groups position with a short, but detailed statement

Three Supporting Speakers- Each has different point supported by evidence

Counter Speaker- States opposing view and counters it

Conclusion Speaker- Restates points and overall position

Three Questionnaires- Each must ask at least three questions to the opposing side and respond to opponents questions

Those that do not participate in the debate must write a one-page (double-spaced) report highlight your position. You must use evidence to support your position.

Each student must first decide which side they want to take. (If one group has too many or too few then some students will be transferred to the other side.) Don't worry about as grading will be determined on the research and evidence provided and not on which side has the stronger argument. Each member must first go online or to the library to research the US decision before the bombs were dropped.
