The Industrial Revolution

As you work in pairs, research the changes that occurred in society as a result of the Industrial Revolution. Each pair will be responsible for writing articles for a local newspaper from the perspective of someone living in England during the late 1700s.

You will create two articles:

1. defending (positive) the effects the industrial revolution had on British society as a whole

2. criticizing (negative) the effects the industrial revolution had on British society as a whole

You will include two primary source images, one for each article. Each with the original caption describing what is in the image and why it represents a beneficial or harmful element of the Industrial Revolution.

You and your partner will create a policy recommendation for what laws need to be passed to improve the working conditions and lives of the workers. 

Next you will create a poster that gives you and your partner's combined opinion about whether industrialization has been a positive or negative force. Attach your articles to the poster. Also include your recommendation of laws that could help improve the conditions created by the Industrial Revolution.
