The tasks within this Webquest are designed to allow you to investigate the events of Thanksgiving through various perspectives.

Your task is to divide into 3 groups of 5 and make a research on the following data.

Group 1.

Did you know that the Pilgrims trip to the New World aboard the Mayflower lasted 65 days? It was a cold and damp journey, and since the ship was wooden, passengers were not allowed to light a fire for warmth or for cooking their food. Can't imagine it? Then study the following resources to find it out.

Group 2.

Did you know that the first Thanksgiving celebration was held in the fall of 1621 by the proclamation of Pilgrim Governor William Bradford? He invited the neighboring Native Americans to join with the colonists in the three-day celebration, which featured games, races, bow and arrow competitions, and of course feasting of the bounty of the fall harvest.  Did you know who Native Americans were and what role they played in Pilgrims' survival during their first harsh winter? The following links will help you.

Your task will be to create an 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation or a Movie Maker format film which will be shown in class.

In your quest you will

1) inform your classmates and teacher about the topic you've studied;
2) show your classmates and teacher some interesting pictures you found that are related to your topic;
3) comment on the information related to your task. For example, if "pilgrims" was your topic, provide some evidence on their journey to the New World;
4) contribute to the topic studied by displaying your creative works. In other words, after doing the research, you may demonstrate either some recipes for Thanksgiving feast from your own cookery book or make some drawings of Native Americans (how you imagine them) or work out your own programme of Thanksgiving celebration.
