Introductory helpful videos:

Write on a paper the answers to the following activities. All the information needed is provided in the links. The written paper has to be submitted to Moodle, and its deadline is the second session. You have to answer the activities explained below. The file should cover, at least, two pages, in Times, Calibri or Arial at 12 points and 1.5 space lining.

  1.  First of all, watch the following video of Irish accents (EXPLANATION OF THE IRISH ACCENTS) and, then, identify each person from each video with a particular accent from different Irish regions:
  2. Among the items of this list of Irish historical periods, choose one of them and create a story with your own words: Great Famine (GREAT FAMINE), Irish Independence War (WAR OF INDEPENDENCE) and Irish Civil War (IRISH CIVIL WAR). This story has to be written in Past Simple tense, as it was recently explained in class.
  3. Locate in a map the cities mentioned in the inflatable globe game played in class. (This inflatable globe game will be explained at the end of this session). You can get information from the two introductory videos attached at the beginning of these activities.
  4. Read the myth of the Leprechauns (MYTH OF LEPRECHAUNS) and the legend of St. Patrick (ST. PATRICK'S LEGEND) and use your imagination to recreate the ending of each of them.
  5. Write a recipe of a famous Irish dish among the ones proposed in the following list, by looking at the following photos. They are, respectively, Irish stew, Galway oysters, soda bread and seafood chowder. Do not copy it, write it with your own words.

    6. Read the information provided by these websites about Irish literature and create a 5-question questionnaire as if you           were a teacher:

James Joyce → INFORMATION ABOUT JAMES JOYCE

Oscar Wilde → LEARN MORE ABOUT OSCAR WILDE

Samuel Beckett → MEET SAMUEL BECKETT

  7. Watch this video about Gaelic dance (IRISH TRADITIONAL DANCE) and give your opinion, explaining if           you consider it difficult, easy, funny, interesting or if you would like to learn how to dance it or not. You can use the                 lesson dedicated   to adjectives explained in class.

    8. Create a pamphlet in which you propose a tourist guide of the most famous monuments of the Republic of Ireland, by             taking information from the National Geographic website: (TOP 10 HISTORIC SITES IN IRELAND).

    9. Write, with your own words, the Bloomsday celebration based on the following link: BLOOMSDAY CELEBRATION DAY.             Then, create a TagCrowd by using this website: TAGCROWD GENERATOR.

After writing your paper, you have to make an oral presentationTo do so, you have to choose the topic you liked the most and explain what you have learnt about it to the rest of your classmates and the teacher. You also have to prepare a visual support by means of Powerpoint, Prezi and so on that should not last more than six minutes.

Before starting writing your paper and preparing your oral presentation, go to the 'Evaluation' section of this webquest. It contains the two rubrics that will be used for evaluating your work, so read them very carefully for you to know what aspects are going to be taken into account and how they are going to be assessed.
