Giving a Voice - House on Mango Street Webquest
Process
First, you will be assigned to a partner. Second, print out the attached chart.
Next, your partner and you should briefly discuss your views on Mexican immigration. Briefly write down the information from your discussion on the attached chart.
Then, as a team, visit the following websites to complete your research. Be sure to answer all questions on the chart. Work should be divided equally between partners.
Site #1 - Analyze the changing border between the United States and Mexico before and after the Mexican-American War by viewing the Interactive Timeline.

Site #2 - Dispel myths about immigration by taking the Myth vs. Realities Quiz – Be sure to read the explanations that accompany correct answers.
Site #3 - Learn about current issues surrounding the Mexican - United States border by exploring “The New Frontier / La Nueva Frontiera” section of the Time Website.

Site #4 - Learn about the actions of the Homeland Security Department by viewing a video and exploring the PBS NewsHour Site.

This site has multiple resources concerning the US-Mexico border issue. Since this issue is current and still being affected by government decisions and policy, information before 2009 may be out-of-date. Use the search function to find resources, but pay attention to the dates and make sure the information is current.
