Process

Amazing writers bring their fiction stories to life by creating suspenseful, humorous, adventurous, and/or mysterious plots (Story Arcs)- with detailed characters and settings that allow the reader to envision the story as a movie-like experience.  We will learn as writers to intensify the problem, creatively sequence a series of events that lead to a climax, and allow for the story problem to worsen before developing events that set the reader to a resolution.

Begin with organization:  Keep your Pixar Handouts within your Writer's Folder and Writer's Notebook.
First Day:  Watch For the Birds.  Find a Partner and focus only on the story's climax.  Fill in the Climax only on your handout and within your Writer's Notebook (WNB)- write the Moral.  "What does respect mean to you?"  "What is so Wonderful about Differences in Everyone?"  "What does kindness look and sound like?"  Reflect on the topic and "write long"...Pick one of the attached worksheets to fill out on For the Birds- Respect Week Bulletin once you have drafted your reflections in the WNB.
Day 2-Day 4:  We will watch and fill in the Pixar Packet- as a class.  Each night, work within your WNB using strategies from each short film to develop ideas and a creative plot of your own.  You may use ideas from favorite picture books, movies, television series, and/or life experiences.  We will draft daily after Pixar and you must Pair/Share during the last ten minutes of class in order to help organize each other's plots.  REMEMBER- you must use the Plot Organizers (your choice of which) in order to organize your WNB plots.  Keep all Drafts and Organizers within your Language Arts Folder.
Day 5:  You will be tested on a Pixar Short Film and Share the Final Draft of Your Plot.  ALL Plots will be displayed outside the classroom (bulletin) and in addition, may be used within your narrative stories.

Attached I will include the Pixar Packet and Uploaded a Few of the Short Films...All Short Films may be found on Youtube.com
