Introduction

20151027073656eMydy.jpg

Animation has proven to be an extremely engaging and successful tool for teaching plot.  Within a minilesson- a Pixar Short Film offers a funny, suspenseful, and humorous approach to organizing all important aspects of a story plot.  It encourages great creativity and imagination, that later carries into a student's writing.  Teachers may initiate the unit with Pixar and later can assess the skill and ensure it  is being mastered with engaging picture books such as, Humpty Dumpty Climbs Again by Dave Horowitz or The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.

Anchor Charts are also essential during the unit- Illustrated as a roller coaster - Displaying that the plot of a story is made up of a problem, important events, and the resolution.

All Pixar Printouts & Plot Worksheets- should be collected and kept within a student's writing folder with student's writer's notebook.
