Process

1. Open a word document. Put your name in the top left hand corner. On the line beneath, put "Scientific Method Webquest". Center that line. Record all of your work from this WebQuest onto that document.

  • Answer the questions on the page.
4. Article and Brief Report
  • Read this article.
  • Write a 2-paragraph report. The first paragraph will be a summary of the research conducted. Include the question posed, experimental set up, results, and conclusion. The second paragraph will be an evaluation of the experiment. Apply what you have learned about the scientific method to analyze the validity of the experiment. Some questions to consider:

Is it controlled? Is only one variable being tested? Does the experiment test the hypothesis? Are there enough subjects/trials? Is the experiment reproducible? Are there opinions/inferences instead of facts presented? Is there any data being ignored? Does the conclusion the researchers came to make sense considering the experiment? Should you trust this data? Why or why not?
