1.  The entire class will participate in background activities to review prior knowledge (review the name, order, and other basic information about the planets).

2.  Groups will complete the preliminary data sheets to collect information about the similarities and differences when comparing Earth to the other seven planets in the solar system.  They will prepare a presentation (Power Point, slideshow, Movie Maker, Photo Story, etc) that will be presented as a museum exhibit.  Multimedia is required on this step.

3.  Groups will evaluate their information, choosing a planet on which to focus their presentation to the scientists.  The planet they choose should be the one the group feels would be able to support human life the best.  Planet modifications are allowed.  They will write a persuasive paper (length determined by ability) in order to convince the colonial scientists to choose their planet for colonization.

4.  Students will gather more information about the target planet.  Students will choose to create a blog or podcast covering the first year of colonial life on the planet.  At least 12 entries or 12 two minute podcasts are required.
