Colony 9-1-1

The Earth is getting overcrowded.  The population has exploded, the Green House Effect has changed the environment, and animals are becoming extinct in all areas of the globe.  Farmers are not able to grow enough food to support the expanding number of people on the planet on the shrinking farmland.  Political leaders from around the world have come together and decided that it�s time to send a space craft with a colony from Earth to another planet in order to ease the overcrowding, preserve endangered animal species, and allow society to continue on another planet if balance cannot be restored to the Earth�s ecosystems.  You have been hired to gather information about the other planets in the solar system for the scientists and to make a recommendation about which planet is the most like Earth and would be able to best support the colony with the least modifications.

Groups will create a space museum with entries for each planet other than Earth.  These exhibits will be designed to show the similarities and differences between Earth and the other planets and will help scientists to decide which planet to target for colonization.  

Extension: Students will create multimedia presentations to show what life would be like as a member of the new colony.
