Introduction

Do you remember reading the story "Kruimeltje" as a kid? And do you remember he had a dog, called Moor, that he was very fond of? Even if you're not familiar with the story Kruimeltje and Moor, I'm sure you can appreciate the bond that grows between a person and their favorite pet, whether it be a dog, a cat or, in this case, a bird.

As you know from the movie, Billy doesn't consider Kes a pet because he believes Kes is a wild animal, even though he has trained her. Still, Billy is very fond of his bird and sees to it that Kes is kept properly.

This web quest takes you on a journey into Billy Casper's life. At the end of this seven-lesson-series you will have gained a deeper appreciation of the novel's protagonist and what his relationship with Kes means to him in his circumstances.

Your teacher will divide the class into six groups of four students. Each group embarks on the quest as a group. The 7th lesson is showtime! Each group will present their short movie based on one of the scenes of A Kestrel For a Knave to the class.
