Hockey is a fast paced and entertaining sport to play.  Many people enjoy watching hockey, but are hesitant to try playing it.  I will briefly explain the basic skills required for hockey in addition to some benefits it can personally offer you.  

Hockey is an invasion game sport with heavy emphasis on muscular endurance and cardio-respiratory fitness.  I have played many sports throughout my life, I can say without a doubt that ice skating is an amazing way to improve your own personal fitness.  It is a low impact form of cardio that is both easy on the joints and highly demanding on your heart and lungs.  Cardio is arguably the most important form of fitness, because it is able to lower the chance of acquiring many life threatening illnesses due to a living a sedentary lifestyle.  

If you have bad joints, or are simply bored from running around a track,  I would urge you to consider hockey as a sport.  It can benefit the quality of your life through health, while you can spend your time doing something that you genuinely enjoy
