Checks and Balances

The aliens came to earth. Everyone was scared, they thought the aliens were here to destroy the Earth, or to hurt us. That was not it at all. They came not to destroy the Earth, but to learn from us.  They have three branches of government very similar to the United States government, but they have a problem. Their three branches of government are out of control abusing their power and it is chaos! They have been studying the U.S. government and the checks and balances system, but they need more information.They are asking you for help. They really want specifics, details that only someone who lives here can give. The essential question they are asking is this: Does the system of checks and balances in the United States government work to prevent one branch of the government from exercising too much power?
