Breaking the Language Barrier Using Polynomials

Introduction

ufp.jpg

As part of your job working at the Intergalactic Mathematic Corporation, it is up to you to find new species to conduct business with. You have identified the Polynomes as a new species with whom you would like to do business. However there is a problem; you do not speak their language. The Polynomes communicate in Polynomian; where the alphabet consists of non-factored polynomials.

While thinking about how you will attempt to communicate with the Polynomes, you are approached by a representative of the Factors; another species with whom you conduct business. The Factors communicate in Factorian, where the alphabet consists of fully factored polynomials. The representative of the Factors informs you that there is a convenient way to translate a message from English to Polynomian and vise-versa using Factorian. The Factorian representative informs you that she is willing to show you how to translate English to Polynomian free of charge.

If you are able to send a message to and receive a reply from the Polynomes, the Intergalactic Mathematic Corporation will award you a $1,000,000 bonus.
