Mexico Public Schools Internship - Summer 2012

Introduction

20120625083501jeRaX.jpg

For the last 4 years, I have been a Physical Education teacher at Mexico Middle School.  I have also coached several sports including wrestling, track and cross country at various schools over the last decade. I recently accepted a new position for the 2012-2013 school year with the Warrenton School District, which includes football and wrestling coach positions.  I have a passion for athletics and for teaching students about the benefits of living healthy, active lifestyles.

I have an undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Southeast Missouri State University. Prior to teaching, I worked in the health and sport industry at schools, a hospital and sporting retail stores.  I also spent a year living and teaching in Seoul, South Korea which affirmed my desire to teach.

I enrolled in the Sport Management Program at Missouri Baptist University in the summer of 2010. I did lots of research on this specific degree and local accredited universities and there was no doubt in my mind that the program at Missouri Baptist was the right program for me.

My short-term goals in enrolling for the Sport Management degree included professional development, learning more about the quickly growing industry of sport management, and expanding my knowledge of sport management issues. My long-term goals include gaining more experience working in this industry as an athletic director, and eventually teaching Sport Management to students at the college level.

I was born and raised in Desloge, MO. I currently live in Warrenton, MO with my wife and my 1-year old son.
