The Master's in Sport Management Program at Missouri Baptist University has been a challenging and enjoyable learning experience.  We have covered such a broad and diverse number of topics.  I have learned much more about Sport Management issues and topics than I could have ever imagined.  There were many challenges including getting a lot of work covered and completed in short 8-week classes.  However, I enjoyed the intensity and method of instruction that came with this fast-paced curriculum.  I had not taken any online courses prior to starting this Program and was initially intimidated by distance learning.  However, I quickly saw how the benefits outweighed my main concern of not having the opportunity to interact with the teacher and other students in the classroom.  I feel like the online forums were conducive to getting to know my classmates and teachers.

Below are a few of the projects I worked on during my coursework in the Sport Management Program.

Research Methods Research Proposal - In spite of so many recent highly-publicized scandals in college sports, I examined the argument that athletics still provide significant benefits to young athletes.

Sport Law Case Briefs - During the Sport Law course we looked at several case briefs and analyzed the facts to determine what ruling we would make.  In the example below, I looked at the case of football players arguing that football leagues hid the real dangers of participating in the sport.

Leadership & Management in Sport - In this course we looked at several leaders in the Sporting world. In my paper below I discuss the transformational leadership of Kurt Warner relating to his charisma, motivating presence and stimulating personality.

Sport Psychology - In the course I examined a study that looked at anxiety in student athletes at different levels of competition.  I have worked with athletes of all ages and all levels and so I chose this topic to better understand how to help athletes compete at their highest potential.

Public Relations - In my Sport Media reaction paper, I looked at large companies such as News Corporation and how they grow and survive in such a broad diverse global market. Corporations like this have benefitted from the popularity of sports around the world but have also helped grow interest in sports globally and created mutual benefits for companies and sports.

Facility Management - As part of this course, I had the opportunity to visit a sport facility and provide my evaluation of the facility based on what I had learned in the class. It was very eye-opening to look at a facility from my viewpoint after taking this class as opposed to what I would have thought prior to the course.

Sport Marketing - As part of this course I decided to develop and market a summer camp for local student wrestlers to work with Maryville University's new Wrestling Program which had a long history of national championships at its prior location at University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Sport Finance - During this course I created a business plan for a company that helps high school athletes present themselves to college coaches through video and media.
