Australian Folklore - Ned Kelly, Bunyips, Dreamtime and Ghost stories.
Introduction
Australian folklore is made up of traditional
beliefs, legends and customs, handed down through
generations. Folklore tells the stories and experiences of people in
ways that factual accounts cannot - conveying emotions, hopes and fears
though time and place. Some are literally true and some are not.
Australian folklore is based on both Indigenous and also non-Indigenous people's
knowledge and experience, real or imagined. Customs from immigrant cultures sometimes play a part, as do heroic endeavors by individuals, and even the unique landscape of Australia itself.
