Colonizing Mars

Class Discussion (Socratic Seminar format)

• What are the benefits of going to Mars for the human race?  Are these benefits worth the risk and the cost?
• How far are humans away from the capability of colonizing mars?  Is this a reality in our lifetime.

As a class we will discuss the above questions in a socratic seminar format.  We will abide by the following rules during the discussion:

• Do not need to raise hands, but please wait for others to finish speaking, defer to those who haven't spoken yet.
• Challenge ideas but not the person
• Focus on ideas and less on opinions
• Be respectful of others even when disagreeing
• Acknowledge the reasoning behind opposing views
• Speak clearly and loud enough to be heard
• Limit use of crutch words (like, sort of, kind of, um, you know)
