Does the Lewis & Clark expedition represent Manifest Destiny?

On Day 5 students will determine how they will vote on the question and give supporting reasons for their decsion.  As a whole, the class will discuss the meaning of Manifest Destiny and the fact that it was a mindset of the people of that time.  They will discuss why the expedition represents that and how the Louisiana Purchase sparked a series of events that led to the United States gaining the rest of the land out west.
