Women in the Civil Rights Movement
Teacher Page
History Teachers: I encourage all of you to teach history from the "bottom up." Imagine how different this lesson would be if it had focused on Dr. Martin Luther King and Cesar E. Chavez. By focusing the lesson on Rosa Parks and Dolores Huerta our students are still forced to learn about the importance of these men. However, it is hoped that the lesson makes it clear to our students that without the contributions of women some of the greatest struggles for equality and social justice might not have been won.
