Comics - The link between art and literature

Task 1


Research

Your first task consists of researching the origins of comics, in particular, your favourite comic character. Find how comics and the characters changed during the times for example 1960's to present.
It is important that you research the artistic point of view of the comic and the artists who changed the face of the particular character throughout the ages. 

For example: Spider-man

Steve Ditko, John Romita, Todd Mcfarlane etc...



Task 2

Read a comic of your liking and analyse

The second task is to give you a first hand experience on reading comics. This way, you can criticise what the comic from your own point of view. Explain the links between the art and literature.

For example; 

What effect does the text have on you in relation to the pictures? Does it help you understand the comic better?



Task 3

Discuss and Interpret

What is the difference between a simple text ex: from a book, than this particular comic?
Which form of reading do you like most and why? 

For example: Are there factors which may strike you or make you dislike the comic?



Task 4

Create your own comic based on any of your favourite stories

Once you have completed the previous tasks, you are to create your own comic in groups of 3 based on your own story or a story you have heard of. You will be provided boxed leaflets to fill in with your own images which link to each other. Don't forget to include speech bubbles and text!
