1. Before completing the worksheet , Read carefully the information below.


PROTEIN - Proteins are body building foods. They are made up of the elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. The body needs foods which contains protein to:

  1. promote the growth of nails, skin and hair.
  2. build, repair and replace worn-out and broken down body cells (tissues).
  3. promote growth and development of the body.
  4. build strong bones and teeth.
  5. Protein is an important part of the red blood cells. Muscles, skin and organs of animals such as the lungs and brain all contain protein

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           


 CARBOHYDRATES - Foods which contains carbohydrates supply the body cells with a great amount of power and energy (calorie) to do work. The   chemical elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen make up carbohydrates. Carbohydrates consist of starches, sugars and cellulose. Starches are found in foods such as: Rice, Flour, Yam, Green banana, Dasheen etc.


VITAMINS - Vitamins are food substances which the body needs in small portions to:

  1.  Promote growth and development.
  2.  Resist and protect the body against certain diseases of the skin, bones, eyes and teeth.
  3.  Maintain good health.
  4.  Regulate body processes

Vitamins are in different groups and each group has its own function and prevents different types of diseases.

2.  After you have gathered enough information, you can begin to work on your worksheet.


 In your respective groups, open Microsoft Word on the computer or laptop and start to create your menu card.

On a card, paper or at a section of the Menu Card, you will need to indicate the name , age and status of the person. In addition, the name of the restaurant, the type of food course and cost of food must be visible. Use different aesthetic features to enhance your menu card.
