Argumentative Essay WebQuest
Process
While you complete these tasks today, write down your answers on the worksheet attached by downloading it to the computer and saving it to your Google Drive.
Task 1: See if you can recall the parts of an argumentative essay from last class. Check your answers by going to this website: http://study.com/academy/lesson/parts-of-an-argument-claims-counterclaims-reasons-and-evidence.html and watching the video. If the woman speaking in the video is talking too fast for you, there is a transcript, or written version, of what she is saying below the video for you to follow along. Answer the questions on the worksheet while watching the video.
Task 2: Go to the following website to view an example of an effective argument written by a student: http://www.oregon.gov/ode/educator-resources/assessment/Writing38/wrigr8ph-couldyoubedoingmore.pdf. As you read, think about what makes this essay an effective argument and when you are done respond to the questions.
Task 3: Click on the links to watch several TV commercials. After watching these commercials, you will be determining what the creators were trying to persuade the audience to do and what they said/what technique they used to try to convince them.
