Determine a Task Master for your Group. Your Task Master will create a Google Slides show and share it with the rest of your group. They will also keep your group on task.

Next, select the following roles (the Task Master will need to choose one as well):

  • Content Specialist - analyzes content (including stories, headlines, story types, etc.)
  • Designer - analyzes visuals (overall website design, photos, infographics, artwork, etc.)
  • Feature Analyst - analyzes additional features included in the site (news tickers, real time stats, multimedia features, columns, alternative stories, etc.)
  • Head of Social Media - analyzes use and presence of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.)
Your Website Action Plan (in form of GoogleSlides) should address the following points:
  • Strengths and weaknesses of our current website compared to other schools
  • Improvement of overall website design and layout
  • Improvement of regular updates (create an action plan to ensure regular updates)
  • Integration of social media
  • Advertising of the Website to the school and community to gain followers
Your action plan should be a minimum of 10 slides long and take you around 7-10 minutes to present. You must work as a group and delegate tasks to be able to complete this project. Befor you begin working, set up your group's norms to be sure everyone is on task and equally contributing to your action plan. You can access and add contents to your Slides simultaneously. Present your findings as a group and share the load of presenting your plan.

Use the following resources:

Other School Journalism Sites:

Have each of your group members look at at least three different sites. Be sure to check out your sites in detail, look at individual stories and elements as well as overall layout and design.

Your group will present your findings to the rest of the class using your GoogleSlides. Be sure to design your presentation concise and visually appealing, making sure you convey your main points, addressing all aspects you were asked to evaluate and investigate.
