Historical Background for To Kill a Mockingbird

AssessmentYou will use the research to write an essay (500-700 words in length) which analyzes the way Harper Lee incorporates actual situations and historical events situations into her fictional account of life for the Finch family in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama. Analyze how Lee creates verisimilitude/truthfulness in setting, conflict, and characterization in To Kill a Mockingbird. Use your answers to the Multiple Perspectives Literacy Guide questions to help develop your essay. Include information from both primary and secondary sources as well as from the novel itself to support you points. The process of drafting, revising, proofreading and producing a final product to publish to the class will take approximately two weeks.
