Welcome: Promoting Diversity in School Teaching and Leadership Positions
Description: Representation of local communities is still an issue in our schools across the nation. Despite the diverse demographics of our student population, the teaching force remains to be homogenous, mainly dominated by females who are White and belong to the middle-class. With the growing number of diverse students in urban schools, especially in a state like New York, there is a need for educators to represent the students that they serve. The purpose of this WebQuest is to help school leaders understand the importance of hiring and retaining educators from traditionally-marginalized groups for both teaching and school leadership positions.
