Is the FORCE (Of Gravity) Really With You?

Below are the standard, essential question, and learning targets.  I also have my students to work in groups, select a learning target (or standard/essential question), and film a movie that explains the learning target.  Teacher should work with students to create all grading rubrics so students will know exactly what to expect.

Grade 8: Standard 12 - Forces in Nature - Everything in the universe exerts a gravitational force on everything else.

Essential Question - What are the scientific principles that explain gravity?

Learning Target - SPI 0807.12.5 - Determine the relationship among the mass of objects, the distance between these objects, and the amount of gravitational attraction.

Learning Target - SPI 0807.12.6 - Illustrate how gravity controls the motion of objects in the solar system.
