Bug Boxes!

This web quest teaches kids how to observe the world around them and also work on their organization skills. This project requires the kids to bring in minimal supplies, while the school or teacher would need to supply everything for the bug box. The students would be responsible for the box and the bugs. The project should take no more than 3 to 4 days and each day would not have to be dedicated fully to the project. The students would just need time to catch the bugs, pin the bugs and then label. They will also need time to type or that could be assigned for homework. Make sure to give the kids time in class as well as try to get them to do stuff at home. This helps to build maturity.

Standards

5.ESS.4 Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact.

5.LS.2 Observe and classify common Indiana organisms as producers, consumers, decomposers, or predator and prey based on their relationships and interactions with other organisms in their ecosystem.
