Bug Boxes!

Friday of the prior week I will ask the kids to get a shoe box and bring it into class for the project next week.

Monday:

•     To Start the Monday off we will begin be talking about catching insects

      I will supply the kids nets and a bug carrying case for the insects they catch.

•     Next I will have the kids watch a YouTube video on how to make a bug box!

•  After telling the kids all this information it will be time to go for our first day of hunting!    

            we will be searching for bugs on the playground of the school. There are fields nearby so there should be plenty of bugs!

•  After searching for bug on the first day we will take the bugs back inside to teach the kids how to pin the bugs

Tuesday

        second day of hunting and students will start to pin the bugs for final assembly of the box

       students will also get some typing time to work on the 1 page summary

Wednesday

•     the students will finish their bug boxes and will turn them in on the exhibit table. 
• all students can come and see the boxes 
• the exhibit table will be in the  hallway so all students in the building can see them        

In the future most likely a week after the bug project the class will be taking a trip to the local museum to see their bug display!

    After that the students will get the option of taking the bug boxes home with them or they can recycle them all together!
