Preceptors Guide to Fostering Critical Thinking

my WebQuest, Preceptor�s guide to fostering critical thinking.  I am a clinical educator and I facilitate orientation
in the critical care unit, emergency department, and endoscopy unit.  I find preceptors struggling with ways to
encourage new nurses (their preceptees) in critical thinking, especially in the
specialty critical care units.       

The nursing professional development committee provided
both the preceptees and preceptors surveys on how they felt their orientation went.  Some preceptors were interested in going to a
preceptor class that is offered twice a year but would prefer something online
instead of sitting in a classroom. This
program is a small part of the preceptor course designed to assist the
preceptor with fostering critical thinking skills for their preceptee, which
was also another suggestion, by the preceptors in the survey.                                          

I have incorporated a variety of ways through
technology to present the information.  I
welcome feedback and suggestions and hope this material assist the preceptor
and other educators to meet the objectives. 

Standards

This program is designed for the licensed Register Nurse with a minimum of 1 year experience and looking to act as a preceptor or is currently a preceptor.
