Ideally, this WebQuest should last one class period, approximately 55 minutes. It should accompany, not supplement, a series of lessons on the academic and/or professional audition process. In our curriculum, this WebQuest would follow a series of workshops where students have worked their 1 and 2 minute monologues using the 12 audition guideposts as outlined by Michael Shurtleff in his book AUDITION: EVERYTHING AN ACTOR NEEDS TO KNOW TO GET THE PART, while preceding a mock audition set-up in which students would give a fully realized audition in front of their peers.

Standards

VA SOL TIV.5 The student will prepare for academic and/or professional auditions by:
1. choosing and preparing contrasting one-minute and two-minute audition pieces from published works;
2. preparing and presenting written and oral critiques of personal and peer audition pieces;
3. developing a rsum of performance and production experience; and
4. using established audition techniques and following audition notice guidelines.
Theatre Arts IV: Advanced Acting and Directing. Grade 12.
