Biomes Around the World!

This webquest is designed for 5th grade students as a way to become aware of different biomes around the world.  I would recommend using this webquest after the students have learned about food chains and food webs.  Students also need to have background knowledge in how organisms adapt to their environment and how organisms can only survive in environments in which their needs can be met. 

 

This webquest is designed to meet the following Ohio Content Standards:

Grades 3-5 Life Science Benchmark:

Benchmark B: Analyze plant and animals structures and functions needed for survival and describe the flow of energy through a system that all organisms use to survive. 

Benchmark C: Compare changes in an organism's ecosystem/habitat that affect its survival. 

 

Grade 5 Life Science Indicators:

Trace the organization of simple food chains and food webs.

Summarize that organisms can survive only in ecosystems in which their needs can be met.  The world has different ecosystems and distinct ecosystems support the lives of different types of organisms.
