Quilts of Many Cultures

Lesson Focus 
I designed this webquest to allow students the opportunity to do computer research with a little guidence. I am planning this webquest for my third grade class. I hope it will serve as a path way into other cultures and discussions of difference in people.

 

National Standards for Social Studies

Thematic Standard
       1. Culture and cultural diversity  Social studies teachers should posses the knowledge, capablities, and depositions to organize and provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of culture and cultural diversity.

       3. People, Places and Environments   Social studies teachers should posses the knowledge, capabilities, and depostions to organize and provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of people, places, and environments.

 

Mississippi Standards for Social Studies
         1.a.  Describe relationships among people, places, and environments.

       5.c.  Create a cultural artifact of another country/culture using geometric patterns.

 

Mississippi Standards for Language Arts
          2.d.   The students will analyze, interpret, compare, or respond to increasingly complex literary text, literary non fiction, and informational text, citing text- based evidence.
