WebQuest

A Journey Through the Human Body

Teacher Page

Focus:  This WebQuest mainly focuses on the content standards having to do with the body systems for fifth grade in California.  The objective of this WebQuest is for students to gain an understanding of how each of the body systems work.

Objectives:  I would recommend starting this project after you have introduced the students to body systems.  Students will know how blood circulates through the heart chambers, lungs, and body and how carbon dioxide and oxygen and are exchanged in the lungs and tissues.  They will know the sequential steps of digestion and the roles of the teeth and the mouth, the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine in the function of the digestive system.  They will know the role of the kidney in removing cellular waste from the blood and converting it into urine, which is stored in the bladder.

Resources:  Students need to know how to use the internet as well as PowerPoint.  Each student in the group does not need to have his/her own computer, but each group must have access to at least one computer.  Depending on how often a teacher's class has access to a computer, this WebQuest will take ten to fifteeen one hour sessions.

Credits:  The resources and web links included on this website are outside web pages and I would like to thank them for allowing the students access to them.
