Mars Rover Race

Object to Build: Build a vehicle that is powered by one rubber band. The car must start from rest, and the wheels MUST be CDs. Materials: Provided: 4 CDs and 10 #32 (3” x 1/8”) rubber bands. Wooden dowel rods will also be provided for drive axles. You are not required to use the dowel rods, but YOU MUST USE THE CDs AND ONE RUBBER BAND FOR STORED ELASTIC ENERGY. The additional rubber bands are for testing or for use on other parts of the car. Body of car can be made from salvaged parts from old toys, cardboard, balsa wood, or whatever is around the house. Car kits such as those from Legos and K’nex may NOT be used for the final car! You are not expected to spend hardly any money on this project. BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING, ask me first to see if we have it at school.
